Interesting start to the week...delivered my shell this morning, then was told to head in to Jax to pick up 89 granite heading for White Springs, FL. While chatting with a buddy on the phone, I missed my exit for 10, and got lost, in a city I've traveled through hundreds of times, go figure, this was probably foreshadowing how this load would turn out. Either way, finally get to Cemex, trucks wrapped around the place, an hour later I'm headed west grossing dead nuts 88K, right at nearly 28 tons in the box.

I get down to White Springs and make my turn on this narrow little 2 lane road, proceed to travel the 5.5 miles as instructed, and catch sight of the silver Chevy awaiting my arrival, slowly make my left turn down what is basically a dirt driveway, literally sinking the trailer in the cul-des-sac as I sit there and wonder what the hell my boss has got me in to. I no sooner straighten out, and my "escort" in the chevy walks back to me with this oh S look on his face, and I kid you not, first thing he asks me is "do you have locking diff's in this truck"? (Can't make this stuff up)

We proceed to awkwardly laugh at the mess we're about to probably get in to, he follows that up by saying "I was hoping they were sending a dump truck". Long story short, no way in hay I'm getting back the mile of dirt road to get to where he wanted it, literally the worst sugar sand bed I've ever seen, and I've lived in Florida most of my life. So we decide on what looks to be an ok spot to dump, proceed to back in and watch the ground give way out from under me. After finding a level spot, I raise the box and a little starts coming out, as the 3rd stage clicks in, the ground under my trailer gives out, with probably 25 ton still in the trailer. What can I do, I laugh to myself, make a phone call to the boss and let him know the scenario, and go in to problem solving mode. Mind you, the tractor isn't moving, we're stuck, 30 minutes of inch worming later and I finally get myself unloaded, and unstuck. Those that know, know......The struggle out here is real sometimes:) Sorry for the jumbled description, but I did my best to fit all of this nightmare in just a few short paragraphs. Safe travels.

Well that sounds terrible and I’m having flashbacks of a few weeks ago, that’s how it was delivering this chicken litter that came out of Arkansas. To some freshly rained on sloppy field. You did good keeping it upright! Days like that can be annoying and frustrating at times, but I would rather inch worm myself out of 10 mud fields than hit one dock at a grocery warehouse!

Found a much better place to dump the remaining 3 loads for these folks. It’s going out to a massive phosphate mining operation, and they’re using this to, I assume, case water wells. My only guess is drilling wells must have something to do with testing the groundwater, and it’s overall cleanliness? Either way, pretty interesting stuff, way off the beaten path. 994FFBB9-1E06-4AEC-96E4-013ADC0C7C9D.jpeg

I love interesting stuff and I love off the beaten path. I also love how your bows have the stake pockets inside the bed rail and not on top.

@Trashtrucker1707 , I seen you had mentioned something about Imerys the other day. I used to pick up back hauls at Imerys in Ga someplace when I worked at Climate. I'd have to look at the map to remember the town. I am taking granules to Indiana for tomorrow. Blew off charge air cooler lines last night near fond du lac wi. Only took the mack dealer a little over an hour to fix it. They said if it woulda been any more serious a problem the truck woulda been there a week. They had 30 trucks in front of me. Glad it was easy an quick. Was still able to load today. Woulda hated to have missed the load as it's paying me 900 buckaroos.

Imery's is in Talking Rock @Professor No-Name I used to see quite a bit of van trailers in there, I think they bag a lot of the dust for pool construction?

@Professor No-Name hows hopper life treating you so far? I saw you been hauling a lot of corn that’s good that comes out. When I was pullin a hopper we did a lot of meal. Chicken meal, lamb meal, fish meal and the like. Lot of that stuff hangs up and sticks. I did blood meal one time and got it all over me and when I took a shower it looked like I was bleeding all over. It was pretty rad. I had kind of a boring week, the mines in Colorado and Nevada put a hold on grinding balls this week at the last minute, so none of those drivers went out there, so they needed stuff to do and it kinda trickled down to everyone. So I kinda clunked around town and did some out and backs. I was home every night so that’s alright. I’m preloaded with salt for Iowa and then down to Oklahoma and then I guess drag coke out of Birmingham to come back with. Have you ever been to ABC Coke @Trashtrucker1707 ? This time I’ll pay attention more and not back on to any scales.

I've been doing really well. The rates have been really well. I've never made this good of money ever. I've been driving almost 30 years and ain't never made paychecks like this. I've been to ABC Coke in Birmingham a long time ago. Ask me any questions about it and I'll try to remember some answers. I I may join you on that salt thing over there in Kansas. The boss keeps talking about sending me over there and getting some salt doing something with that and then going up into the Dakota's I think and getting a load coming back across to Michigan something like that. For that stuff that sticks we've got a vibrator that you hook up to an airline and send it in the rails on the traps back there. But yeah it's been going great man. I wish I would have found this a long time ago.

@motocross25 ive never been to ABC, we always haul rock back out of there coming south. Being home every night isn’t a bad thing, I stayed in north Florida all week and South Georgia and was able to get back everyday as well, nice change from having to run down to the madness of south Florida.
