Extra lights? No thanks...
I do not care to call attention to myself. And although I am a pretty good mechanic, including electrical, I do not care to work on #### on the road.
Our trailers (~150 Great Dane and Utility 53' reefers 2017 and newer) all have the factory five lights upper and lower on the sides, and four tail/stop/turn on the rear...that is enough to not look like a crappy fleet-spec trailer while not shouting "Look at me!".
As far as legality of additional lights not working, why would you have that crap on your truck and not working? If you are not able to do a near-factory quality installation, either pay a professional to do it or leave it off.Roberts450 and 650cat425 Thank this. -
Unfortunately most "professional " techs are hacks when it comes to electrical repairs or wiring in additional accessories.Bean Jr., Roberts450, Cabinover101 and 2 others Thank this.

Maybe where you’re from, but where I’m from, if it’s on the truck it’d better work. Got a warning myself for this.Lonesome and Cabinover101 Thank this.

Fmsca don’t apply where I’m from!

Where might that be? Transylvania? Our member @Frank Speak hails from there. You know him?kylefitzy and Frank Speak Thank this.

Louisana??

Just because you and the officer were ignorant of the law doesn’t make me ignorant of the law. I’ve posted proof directly from the FMCSA that proves you both wrong, at least in the USA.Bean Jr. and spyder7723 Thank this.
