Carry a hat made out of aluminum foil and keep it within arms reach. When they come up to the truck and bang on the door, slip it on. Whatever question they ask you, tell them you have to speak with your leaders via mental telepathy.

Roll your eyes back in your head and begin to chant some gibberish.
If they ask, ( after about 2 minutes) what your doing, say you were put on hold and that your the 20th caller in line and the leaders will answer you in the order in which you were received. So it could take awhile. At that point they should walk away.

I had a truck driver hit me up at the pumps. I went into get my card authorized and was coming out to pump my fuel. This trucker parked at the first island calls me over and asks me for money to buy himself a coffee.
I gave him the change I had...enough for a coffee. Just because I figured...you know...its tough out here right now and maybe I can help a fellow trucker out.
I walk away to get to pumping my fuel and he starts his truck and leaves the truck stop. Guess he didnt need a coffee after all. Lying ####### lol

Cup of coffee and some food is all they gonna get from me. A few bucks once in a while to put food in another mans belly means nothing to me.
Now, last month i had a driver parked in the fuel island walk up to me and tell me, "my house burned down, I've been in this truck for 2 weeks, could i get him a room?
I just kinda laughed and politely told him i couldn't help him.

I do give to the ones I sense truly " need help".

Scammers , lazy , and bums .... keep walking. I've got a decent filter.

Good post.. as I said in an earlier reply , I use my filter to know if I'm being BSd or not. Now, many times as I walk into a restaurant I'm approached by someone asking for money. I don't give money. I do ask if they are hungry. If they say "yes" , then I say " come on, you're eating with me".

I've had some very enlightening meals and conversations with folks this way. It's the best way to help them... DIRECTLY.
