To dodge a pan handler

By those commercials its better than perfect and you couldn't handle the prosperity. LOL

 

The thing is, nobody needs to tell anybody else that they give anybody anything. It is a decision between you and yourself, and really nobody else's business.

Oh yeah, I'm still waiting for @GenericUserName to send me some money. I certainly made a heartfelt (appearing,) plea for it. But no, he just continued to preach about how everybody should give stuff away, and called down all of us who disagreed with him. Never got a red cent out of him. Now is that being a hippo-crit(ter) or what?

 

Why dodge them?? They are human just like you and I. Don't be judgmental. I never know why they are in there situation they are in. Engage the person and talk to them! You never know if or when you will be in that situation to have to rely on the kindness and good heartedness of another.
A lot of drivers are just a few paychecks away from being in the same situation…….

 

I can't say that I turn away from everyone because a quick look can determine a lot about a person and I'll strike up a short conversation asking where they're going or how'd they get here. Facts tend to elude the scammers so I can usually tell if there is some truth in their need.
More often than not, I'll tell them I'll catch them on the way out and, if they're still there, I'll give them some fruit I bought. If they want money, chances are they want to get high but if they are gracious for food, I helped someone in need.

 

You know, i originally ignored your request because of what i thought was your apparent unseriousness. But now that i see you asking yet again you seem to really want this so ill give you a shot. Tell you what, for 10 days i want you to fail to shave, eat 1 meal a day, fail to shower, fail to brush your teeth, sleep under a bridge, fail to change your clothes, then after you have thoroughly transformed yourself into someone who looks like #### (rhymes with spit), smells like ####, feels like ####, are malnourished, cold as all hell from the elements - after all that - find your way to a truck stop, ask me for change and ill toss a couple of bucks your way for the trouble.

 

First off I did not read the entire thread. As far as helping people I do it on a case by case basis. Just speaking for myself, I have pizzed away a good deal of money on all the wrong things. That being said. I know there are times I get scammed by pan handlers. I do not care. The objective is to help your fellow man,your brother. Charity and humility go a long way toward giving disadvantaged people hope.

 

Typically I give them all I have in my pocket and just make it up on the next run. I figure i don't need it, I have a truck. And everything is cheap for a trucker.

 

Heck I got a panhandler who calls or texts me on my mobile.
Yea mom what do you need now?
I make the house payment, pay the elc. and garbage bill, plus the gas bill and I still get hit up for money for some stupid reason..
