I'll throw money at a busker if they are making an effort (no trash can drummers...real instruments like a saxophone) or kids looking for sports uniforms. Usually coins or a dollar.

    Bout it.

To avoid them I just act really racist and shift my eyes back and forth looking thru and behind them.
Black... I don't give money to black ppl.
White... I don't give money to white people.
Brown... Oh sorry...you look like the enemy I don't give money to black or white ppl.
Followed up by why don't you have any money.
    Why ?
    Why?
    $100!?!
    why?
    Why?

    I'm an EEO.

They always left but if they were really entertaining I'd give them a pretzel rod.

I like the ones who drive up in cars and ask for gas money or money for meds. for their sick child.
First one was at the ACT in Hagerstown, Md.. three times in 3 months this white car drives up with little kids in the back seat.
We are from Pittsburgh and we need gas money to get back home.. Nope sorry.
Then a month later same car same lady. Same story, I said you said that last month. Got huffy and said it wasn't her. I'm like yea right. Then a week later she pulls up again and gets out. I'm shaking my head no. She mouths off how I won't even listen and then tells me to go forth and reproduce myself

Then the last one here in Temple, Ga. lady pulls up, can you help me. I need 12.00 more to buy my son his asamtha meds. Nope sorry. Then today she pulls up again, I said lady you hit mr up yesterday. Oh sorry..
Then it gets better. We change trkstps and I see her pull up and get out. She starts to speak. I said look you hit me up twice already now.. She gets this dumb look on her face and starts going darn darn

I used to help out in my younger days by volunteering at the local food bank during the holidays. We would put together close to 100 food hampers each year. The thing that got me a bit wound up was the fact that we would only ever see maybe 1 recipient there helping out. I understand people have jobs to do but really? You couldn't find 2 hours on a Saturday night to come down and help out a little during the holidays?

Yeah Hagerstown, I was over at the mall, probably at The Tilted Kilt, last year.
I was walking back when 2 younger kids asked me if I'd buy them beer. I said no, and felt really mature, almost adult like, but the one whined and said "but? We just want to go to the beach"
So, I got them a 12 pack of Bud Lite. A 1 ouncer for me and gave them back their change.
And I did feel good for helping out.

most are scammers. I have seen them buying alcohol and cigarettes. I have also seen people from my old neighborhood that I know for sure have a home and foodstamps standing on the road with homeless and hungry signs. Then they but weed, coke, alcohol, and cigarettes. I have seen a guy walking with a limp.and acting handicapt every day walk normally counting his money. The scammers ruin it for people who really need help

Giving money to panhandlers, isn't helping, it just promotes more to do the same, most time, I just shake my head and they move on, but if caught of guard and one ask me for help, I hand them a pamphlet for trucking companies that train and then put the to work, if enough people just refuse to give them money, maybe they might try and help themselves, I've been on the street before, never asked for hand outs, I went door to door to every business I could find, filling out applications until someone finally gave me a job, it's pitiful that so many rather stand on a street corner begging for money instead of taking that time trying to find a job, that would put money in their pockets every week
