Nothing would be paid for by my company except expenses related to the trailer and wet kit . Everything else would come out of my pocket.

You're referring to physical damage insurance. Diesel Dave is talking about your very own General Liability insurance policy on your shiny new operating authority. New entrant policies average 12-24k per year.jraulpilot1998 and retlow8 Thank this.

You would be what's considered a Lease Operator. You run under their operating authority and General Liability insurance.

Insurance is only part of it. The most a bank would go on a used truck for me, was 18 months. Banks aren't stupid, history has shown, they aren't the best investment. Besides, the insurance crooks are just the half of it. Taxes and repairs, if you can't do it yourself, (and clutches, which probably will be your 1st repair besides tires, are a #####) will kill ya.Last edited: Feb 25, 2018

They'll be paying the GL insurance. If they aren't; why would you bother leasing on with them?

Why not just get your authority? Do it right the first time. Cut out the middle man. Being an owner operator means to be on your own. Not to depend on someone else. You can subcontract with several carriers but your still on your own. You have the right to refuse a nonprofitable load. But what do I know.. I have been and owner operator since 1984 and been driving since 1979.
bryan21384, DieselDrivinDaddy and 201 Thank this. -
