Want to give everyone an update. I spoke with the terminal manager at the fuel hauling gig. Told him I appreciated all he did and for being willing to give me a chance. However, the hometime was just more important to me and that I would have loved to join the team if the scheduling was better. He told me he understood and would keep me in mind if another truck became available in my area with a daytime opening (since there’s not many applicants in the area it’s a possibility I could get it). He also said in the meantime that when I was ready to leave to contact him again and he would see what’s available.
All in all it seems like I a made a good connection with him and I’m thankful for that. At least I have a sort of back up plan in the event I need it. If a daytime job opens, I just may take it. The hours wouldn’t be too much different as far as the time of day. So who knows what will happen. At the very least I was able to open a door of opportunity.
I want to thank every single person who chimed in and helped me. I don’t really have anyone in life to ask that has lived the trucking life before. Your input was critical in my decision making. I sincerely appreciate it.
To leave or not?

My 2nd CDL job was delivering beer for budweiser, and once a week we'd get free cases of random products. I don't drink- but my family & friends loved me working there. So much free beer.AzTrucker13 Thanks this.

If you're not hurting for money, then the whole industry is up for grabs. If you're happy, stay put. I don't believe in making a change for change's sake. It ain't about how much money you make, its about how you spend it. You've done well with your money. 52k with that type of schedule is actually good in my mind. Sometimes more money ain't always the key to happiness. Many drivers get caught up in chasing dollars, or the OTR guys try to go where other truckers approve of based on reputation, even though they are happy where they are. In my opinion, job happiness/contentment takes a higher spot than money, especially in this industry, because no matter where you go, you'll make a good living.AzTrucker13 Thanks this.

We don’t get anything free. We had a big administration change early last year and they’ve cut everything.
That’s a good point. I’m certainly happy where I’m at. I’d love to make that money, but being with the fiancé is far better than money. She’s happy and I’m happy. I definitely don’t want to ruin that chasing money.bryan21384 Thanks this. -

The terminal manager knows people. He may not have the ideal job for you AT THIS MOMENT, but he may know someone who does. Invite him out for a beer and wings. 2 beers max. Everyone loves to see a strong young Man looking for advancement.
