To old for BS

Where do you work now? You mentioned harvest. Do you haul grain or work for a co-op?

 

I work at a privately owned grain elevator (not a Farmers Co-op or big Business owned).
Move grain when it's sold, but never leave the state. And every thing Ag related.

Never leave the state? Interesting. Elevators hold grain etc until the price rises enough to sell. Sometimes they fill trains to export to china, russia and other Nations that require our grain. And what grain. Mountains of it. We feed like 40% to the world based on Grain, corn etc. Arkansas it's rice, 20% of all rice in the USA and quite a bit of new markets opened in Cuba not long ago.

 

There are enough processing facilities in Iowa (both corn and soy beans) that I don't have to leave the state.
Only "export" grain I may haul loads on barges on the Iowa side of the Mississippi.
