i dont believe no matter how much research you do can prepare you for the differences in what trucking IS
    compared to 9-5 work
I have been working since 72 never had a "normal" job
traveled all over the world and still trucking was different then last time i did it in 85
until a newbie is out here he will never understand the differces between every co and job
    whether OTR or local
none of it is as good or bad as reported on here
there are more quitters on these sites then workers
    the workers are busy working
no one ever comes on here and says "I deserved to be fired because I am incompetent"

This thread makes me want to get out on the road even sooner... I just need to get through part-time school starting next week. I desperately need this change.

That's funny. Trucking is a lifestyle? Only if you make it one. You can tell the difference between the ones that think it is a "lifestyle" and others that realize it is just a job, do it and go home. I get the biggest chuckle every time I see the "lifestyle" trucker at truck stops. You know who you are :biggrin_2559:

I am a new driver. Been driving for 5 weeks solo. I went through so much #### in my training and while being solo, but I LOVE this job. I dont SEE myself doing anything else for the NexT couple of years. I am driving for one of the big Companies outthere. I have miles and they treat me good. I was welder before this, great money, low hours, but it wasnt what i wanted to do, i was very depressed before this, now i cant sleep, becouse i am too excited for my NexT adventure on the NexT day.

You guys are lucky. Y'all have something to complain about. I just want a job driving and I don't care for who, I need experience and I just graduated. I will drive for anyone right now.
