If they still sell it on there web site, Rand McNally, try and get the 2010 Extra large print version. Its not laminated but a synthetic material that is almost indestructable and it is well worth it. I bought mine for $25 from there site back in Sept.
Good Luck.TakenPictures_OTR Thanks this. -
Thank You! I am going to do that. I am also going to take lots of pictures for them and of course talk to them everyday.
Thank You! Good to hear you were able to get home after training to see your kids! I know what your saying about limited time with the kids, I have my kids at least every other weekend, a couple weeks in the summer and rotating holidays. Since they live close to me I also show up midweek and take them out to dinner or something sometimes.
I wish you luck in your journeys and stay safe!
Glad to hear she adjusted alright and I feel your pain with leaving out. I get on the bus in less then 12 hours and have decided I am going to call their mom and see if I can take them out to breakfast or lunch today. Really want to see them again. Nothing silly about the key chains, although since she will be 16 in less then a year she might start bugging you for a car key to go with them chains, lol. I need to think of something to pick up for them in every state, that's a great idea!mtnMoma Thanks this. -
Yeah, I need to order one of those. I had to drive all over the place yesterday just to find the regular paper one, from what people have been saying it won't last long.

I think most of us went thru the same thing...My wife just stopped crying when I leave home to go back on the road...Not sure if that's good or not!

My wife doesn't mind much, but the girls have gotten use to me leaving. I think being home once or twice a week doesn't hurt either, but seeing them in the front window waving goodbye in the morning is harder on me than them. Being in the truck 24/7 gets you thinking of a lot. There at home playing Wii, going to the beach or going to school keeps there mind off of me most of the day.
Today it's the spray park and lunch with the girls and me, then the beach later after the crowds go home.TakenPictures_OTR and mtnMoma Thank this. -
I remember growing up and only seeing my father 1 weekend a month.. Seemed like my father was never home in those days but I got by and when he did come home, we spent time together. I knew from those days that a trucker, I wasnt going to be.. My wife and I raised 5 kids and they are all (legally) grown now.
I pray you are able to get a local job in the near future or at least one that will get you home, just about every weekend.
Good luck to you and God blessTakenPictures_OTR Thanks this. -
What's concerning is once I"m home, I can't wait to get back on the road...It's not that I'm unhappy when home but, well, I'm sure you know or at least understand....otherhalftw, TakenPictures_OTR, Trilleth and 1 other person Thank this.

You know you've been trucking too long when the wife says (after the first day home) "isn't your dispatcher looking for you?"
