If he wants to train, that could be fantastic! He knows how the trainees feel, and knows how NOT to treat them! In my opinion, that would truly be making lemonade of all those lemons!

y'know - knee jerking and in broad terms, I agree - this is a great idea. Have to take care, though - some companies don't have 'trainers' - they have 'mentors'. May, for instance. The trainers aren't there to teach you how to drive a truck, though if the student asks, he can provide assistance (at least, my trainer did). It's assumed that you already know (even if you are straight out of school)

The trainers are actually there to teach you how to work within the company system - basically what messages to send when, on the Qualcomm

The trainer doesn't drive (much),and is required to be in the B seat when the trainee is driving - but that makes sense to me anyway - it's his truck and he doesn't want anything bad to happen to it.

So - would such a position fall under the 'trainer' endorsement?

My trainer was not in the b seat all of the time he knew that I was more comfortable with out him there.

He would however at each time I got behind the wheel sit up in the seat for 5-10 miniutes usually then go to the sleeper and keep a good ear to the ground. If he heard the rumbble of the tires on the rumble strip he would be righ out and say WTF most of the time it was something in the road I moved over to miss.
One time I had a swifty trying to take my hood with him.
He also listened for the jake if he heard that he would look out.

My trainer would drive his full hours then let me drive untill I was tired.
My trainer was cool, laid back guy he had his truck loaded with tv,fridge, playstation, cooler etc.
There are some trainers that I do not like at the company I went with just from meeting them it is their additude and appearance. When my trainer walked in the room I knew that we would probaly get along.
There are others that I talked to there and I would of gotten along with them too.
I can thank my trainer for me not getting sent home after my second failed solo out test. He explained to his boss that I was a great driver with him and I was only nervous when a different guy was with me.

The first time I was nervous and made alot of stupid mistakes the second time I was comming out of the yard grabbing gears that I forgot about the rail road tracks that I was approaching and was grabbing the next gear right on the tracks.

Once I pulled it out of gear dig the light went on in my head I thought WTF to Dumb ##* why did you do that you know you are not suppose to shift on tracks.

The third time I tested out I had the same guy as my first time failing and before I could stop myself I told him about him testing me before he made me work for my passing.

Like i always say-Not everybody should drive a truck. That trainer sounds like one.Good that your husband could handle him along with all the new stuff he was learning.See people driving truck everyday that have no business doing so.I also taught at a comm. college for a short while meeting and trying to teach people that shouldnt to drive.
Good luck to your husband in his new career. His disposition should carry him far.He will probably see his trainer at some point, and critique his teaching style.lol

I still say throw the trainer from the truck, but turn off the recorder before you do this!
