These thunderstorms in Mississippi, and Tennessee have slowed us down a bit. Looks like that’s gonna continue all through Missouri.
We probably won’t reach the Iowa border until day break anywayAlbertaflatbed Thanks this. -
I gotta say, it’s really cool to have so many people not only respond, but check forecast and radar.
This really is a cool placeFullMetalJacket, Sons Hero, tscottme and 3 others Thank this. -
Ice and snow are just part of the job if you drive on 40, 70 or 80. Just something you have to learn to deal with. Consider using an app called “Drive Weather”. It allows you to map a route then shows shows type and volume of precipitation along the path. It has a day and time scroll so you can see what the weather forecast is for during the specific time you plan to be in an area.
My rule of thumb is to, if possible, avoid driving in chitty weather when it’s dark. That said, I’ve driven through Wyoming with 50mph winds blowing snow across the highway. Just slow down, keep both hands on the wheel and keep your head on a swivel.
if you stop and wait out weather, especially cold weather, you’ll starve yourself.
Good luck!!!Bud A., Jed2009 and Albertaflatbed Thank this. -

When was the last time a weather report said "don't worry"? 350 days a year there is nothing weather wise to pay attention to, but the weather report never says "ignore us for the next 6 days."
Albertaflatbed Thanks this. -
I get it, sensationalism gets everyone’s attention, gets clicks, and equals money.
the problem is when you’re 10 hours away and heading north the only thing I can go off of is forecasting to prepare my wife and I for what’s to come. It’s hard to ignore a weather alert, calling for freezing rain and a 10th of an inch of ice.Numb, Opus, Albertaflatbed and 1 other person Thank this.
