Make sure you drink a lot of fluids and stay hydrated also, being dehydrated may have you at a greater chance of bleeding also.

Of course he was about 5 when our sons' were taken out in the 80's, he wouldn't eat so they kept him the extra day making it a 3 day stay for him. He went home and ate french fries and had to have ketchup on them.

Our daughters' were taken out in the 90's and by then it was in patient and out the same day. She didn't want anything for a few days and I had to threaten her to drink anything. I was real worried about the possibility of bleeding and living 40 miles from town. She was out of school for at least a week and had to forego playing in band for at least a month.

Thanks for all the advice. Its been five days and I'm doing yard work and stuff for a couple days now. It wasn't fun but really just sore not so much "pain". I guess the meds helped with that tho. Still careful about coughing and staying hydrated and using humidifier really helped a lot I think. Don't wanna do anything too strenuous for a few more days Id imagine, till scabs fully heal. Really wasn't so bad at all. Thanks again.

I had my tonsils out when is was 32 7 years ago. Worst mistake I ever made. It was bad at least 3 weeks before you i ate. Then when i did it still hurt. Good side is you might lose 40 pounds like I did. Before recovery was over I was under 210. I haven't been under that since I was in the marines.

People seem to have totally different experiences with getting their tonsils chopped out. Mine were so inflamed I really had to struggle to eat before the surgery and must have lost 15 pounds in the couple weeks before. Now after 5 days I'm still being careful but can eat as much "soft food" as I want. Went from only pudding, soup, mashed potatoes, pasta with gravy for a few days to now I can eat burgers and chicken and stuff with just a little bit of extra chewing hahaha. Nothing hot tho the doctor made a big deal about that. Didn't even take any pain medicine yet today, figure if it don't hurt bad after a few more days I'll dump the rest. I wonder how long that stuff would show up in a hair follicle test, or if they even look.

Glad your doing good. Do us a favor and don't dump it down the toilet. Keep the pain mess out if the water supply

DEA website says to mix it with coffee grinds or another undesirable substance (kitty litter etc..) seal in a plastic bag and throw in the trash. Interesting read about the water supply thanks.

They have an article about it being more of a problem of chemicals flushing through your body then into the water supply but they do talk about not flushing drugs. And they do have collection dates but who has time for that? They also say you can ask your pharmacist how to dispose of unneeded meds.
