Too cool for a headache rack?

    By that logic why not build a steel cage around the entire truck?

    Headache rack is made to do no more than a bulkhead or the front of a van or reefer. Best case is it will slow it down.

    Your better off securing it to not move. Even better to drive as if its not even tied down.

    Pipe secured right with straps will not go anywhere. I have seen several trucks leave the road in the tundra, and when they hit that soft ground, they stop right now, with the pipe right where it is suppose to be.

    I just hauled 5 pieces of dredge pipe.. I used chain and straps. Didnt really want to use straps because the rust and growths on the pipes, sure enough it ate one of the pretty good.

    I dont fully agree with the assessment of SS and Aluminum racks. Yes the arent designed for penetration protection. They are designed to deflect and slow.
    Securement is always the best safety measure, but anything you can put between you and a moving object is beneficial. Look at the air cushions we use in motorsports now. Very thin plastic filled air pockets do a better job than stacks of tires. 20190506_170056.jpg
