I'm having trouble finding out if 500k is the gross or just the weight of the generator. Also, most states won't allow 40k per axle line unless it's a dual lane setup.

I've seen these big outfits like this quote jobs without checking on permits before. They do these loads so much they think there won't be a problem, but as we know, nothing is for sure when dealing with government. I think it's crazy myself but I suspect that is the situation here. They quoted the job without checking with RI first. When RI balked on them, they were fixing to loose a boat load of money so they tried to bootleg it.

The worst part of this now is they are at the mercy of RI. Before they moved, they would have had more leverage with the state. Now the state can just make them cut it all up in little pieces if they wanted.

I bet there are some behind the scenes politics going on. In times past, all this would take was a good donation to the Governors campaign to settle this. Things have changed in recent years and all the publicity of this load will make a payoff difficult.

My main experience is TN. I've never seen them try to weigh a superload.

On our big autoclave move documented in another thread, the State Trooper escorts arrived 2 hrs before the load was set to depart, supposedly to do some sort of load inspection. They did arrive about a hr before but never did get out of their vehicles.

My personal biggest was 10 axles and I've been weighed believe me, but never before the load left. The permit does say they might do it but never have.

Those aren't dual lanes but they are 8 tires they might get more I'm not sure.

Depends on the state. TN is normally a no, depending on circumstances. It's almost always a no if you are crossing a bridge of any size.

TX will allow 40k on single lane Goldhofer.

I've moved short distances in TN before where never on state roads. They don't care what trailer you use or what your axles weights are, if you bond the road.
