Thanks stranger, I'm still hearing that about them. The trucks all looked clean, even inside the maintenance bays were clean.

Well, it's official. I am a bona fide employee of Cooke Trucking Company. Got a call late yesterday, well after business hours, wanting me to come back at 9 this morning. Got there, did paperwork, went over to the hospital for a drug test, got my fuel card and watched a bunch of training videos. There was me and another guy there for the orientation, both of us fresh outta school and after he got done today, they sent him out on his way to Cali. I on the other hand get a few days to take care of loose ends and such, my co-driver won't be back in till Wednesday I think, so I guess I'll be heading west late next week. Thanks for all the encouragement all you veteran drivers give us students, newbies, trainees, etc. not only on this thread but all over The Truckers' Report, just goes to show that people still wanna help their fellow man. Everyone stay safe out there and if ya see me screwing up, take it easy on me for a week or so lol.

Well, congratulations! It looks like you made a good choice!
I also have been looking for a non-mega carrier to start out with, but so far each and every company I have contacted requires not 1, but 2 (sometimes 3) yrs experience. I don't have my CDL yet, thinking of attending in February, but it would be nice to have some pre-hires from smaller companies.
Living in upstate NY does not help. Even big mega carriers don't all hire from my area. -
Cooke is a good company and top notch owners!!!!
