too much oil?

    Will too much oil in the crank case cause the motor to miss, shop put in 40 qts when it only calls for 34qts been missing ever since.

    As I've understood D12D engine.....

    34-40 qaurts... seems to me difference is not so notisable, 1-1.5" level difference, I sugest you'll get no problem

    What dipstick "reads"?

    Over filling oil can cause minor to major problems but 6qts usually will not cause issues.
    Too little to cause this I think.

    sounds more like they spilt something on your electrics (maybe a connection) i would check all connections in the area.

    How long ago was the service? It may be just the fuel filter isn't sealing and the fuel is sucking air and that is why it is running rough/missing.
