54???? Hell your young in trucker terms. All these companies care about is that you have a CDL with the proper endorsements. They don't care about your age at all. Most of the students I train are in their 50's and ALL had jobs when they got their CDL. Get it done driver.

Go for it! If it’s what you want to do and your family supports it. I’m 65 and good shape. Have been driving class B all my life. Looking for work, this time class A, in fact had an interview today. I’m very hopeful it works out as it’s 20 miles from home.

You would be a perfect company driver:
you will not have a bunch of children on the company's health plan
you will more than likely never get to the max level for paid vacation
