not a bad deal. Flat's a royal PITA at times but there's pretty good money in it. It'll keep you in shape too with tarping and securing your loads. You'll do alright running a rig. Just keep your head up and keep your attitude towards learning and getting the job done and you'll do fine.

i figure tarping and securing a load, aint too bad. I've done rail load back in the day, and had to strap the mil trucks down tight.( got real good at that too! ) if i can learn to do that right, ill learn the ins an outs of flatbed. aint no thing to help someone out with their load either. why sit there holding a steering wheel and laughing, when some one else is having trouble strapping down. never know they may have a Family emergency to get home too, and helping out means they can say goodbye, versus being too late....

Um there are a couple tools that are really handy that are not mentioned yet. Yet they allow you to do your job more effectively and safely. I have a 5th wheel puller, it gives the leverage if its tough also I use it to hook on to the cable to drain my air tanks since they are tucked in under the truck. I have tandem pin stoppers, they allow you to adjust the trailer one pin at a time real easily. Finally a Tandem puller if your trailers are set up with a handle. Saves a lot of work getting it to release or having to find someone else to pull while you jerk the truck around.

5th wheel pullers can be found at practically any truck stop for $10-$20. I got the other 2 things at the iowa 80 related shops.

After 2 weeks you won't even smell it anymore. Its definitely better than pulling around a skateboard IMO. I can't say which one is actually harder work. You start trying to slam gates and move 10,000lbs of beef in a center and it gets to be a pain at times. Its got its own set of skills you end up learning. Anybody can haul cattle takes a special breed to be a bullhauler. Wore outs another cow hauler on here. Pretty sure he's cattle only too. I won't touch a load of hogs. I hate hogs love bacon and ham hate hogs I'll let them filthy cut rate Iowa swine haulers deal with that. There's a hog hauler from NE on here. He's a good guy. I don't mind him and he doesn't cut rates like them Iowa drivers do. That's a different story though. Lol.
