I heard getting posts set for a plate in your mouth hurts worse than getting teeth pulled cuz I got to get a couple posts set where I had to teach smashed out in an accident and I'm not looking forward to getting it done my understanding is it's like a screw that they put into your jaw bone and on the back side of the play there's a indentation for the plate to snap into the screw head but before you get the plate you have to wait several weeks for the tissue to grow around the threads of the screw some have told me that's worse than getting a tooth pulled

I burned my hands in a French Fry fryer back in High School... That was fun. I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, but, I think I may have to draw the line at this one.

I don't remember it necessarily being more painful, but that's about right as far as putting them in and letting them set. I think they told me 3 weeks, but I was on the road for the next 8 so when I came back they did the next step.

With being on the road during all this It turned a 3 month process into an almost 15 month one.

I had to have bone grafted into my jaw before they could put the posts in too, so there was that.

For your "recovery" you really won't need anything but maybe a couple Tylenol. As far as drinking alcohol goes....you will only magnify the pain.

I think the most painful thing I've ever had was a badly sprained ankle. I'm sure I taught the whole neighbourhood a few new ones that day. I didn't have crutches so I just hobbled around on it. Week later I slipped off a steer tire while checking coolant and fell sideways on it. Didn't feel like filling out an incident report so I just did my best to walk normal and hoped no one noticed lol.
