Hey one more thing. I was kinda worried about putting a 100 dollar antenna so close to the ground like that.(A thief could just walk by and grab it while standing on the ground so I said to the guy they aught to come up with a lock or something to prevent this. He had the answer "hustler " makes this quick connect that I can just reach out and push down on the antenna twist it and then pop it right off. Now at least they would have to break my window to get it lol. This connector did not affect my swr any either so I hope it will work those are prolly a good idea too if your going down a road with a lot of low branches on it I don't think it affected the range either but I will let u know when I get my new antenna
top load vs center load antenna

How much cheaper can they be? I paid 17 euros for my Firestick.
-
I saw the tunable firesticks and tunable K40 fiberglas antennae at a truck stop yesterday. I'm still thinking about just getting one or perhaps a pair of whips, though.
I saw this 20000 watt K40.. you know the one.. huge aluminum looking coil, lots of trucks have one or a pair of them. That and I see the Terminator II a lot, which is a chrome looking whip with a huge coil near the bottom... actually it looks like one huge coil with another larger one above it. I'm trying to decide between a tunable pair of K40 fiberglas, or the K40 6000 watt whip with the black casing that has the coil inside it. -
Just got to kid you
How much is 17 EUROS in REAL money like $$$
BTW Have a great Christmas ..... -
22$. (Next year we might not have Euro anymore, which is good.)
Merry Christmas to you too. -
Around my area, that is cheap as h#ll for a firestick.

Are you talking about one of [ame="http://www.amazon.com/Hustler-QD-2-Antenna-Quick-Disconnect/dp/B003H41MRQ"]these[/ame]? Those are pretty wobbly, especially with a big antenna like a 10k. The pin that holds the two pieces together eventually wears out and won't hold anymore. If you want a quick-disconnect that will last, check out Hank Breedlove's mounts. They're more expensive, but they're the kind of thing you only have to buy once.
I suggested this in your other thread, but I'd check out the Wilson T-SW2000 before I laid down $150 for that BTTB 10K. The SW2000 is available with a 18 or 22" shaft, and it's made specifically for situations like yours where the antenna mount is at the bottom of the door glass. -
Yep that is cheap ....

Not having the Euro will be a DISASTER! -
typically a top loaded antenna will out perform a center loaded antenna.
This is only possible in fiberglass antennas. A top loaded will be easier to tune in most situations.
aluminum top loaded antennas need strong mounts and pleanty of clearance. both of which arent feasable on most all vehicles, car, suburban to big truck.
a predetor 10k will out perform a wilson.rabbiporkchop Thanks this.
