top load vs center load antenna

    I have to admit I actually see his point.
    It is true though, the higher you put the load the lower the take-off angle and greater the distance which is why I've often heard drivers talking on Firestik antennas 30 miles away.
    This antenna talked 85 miles (mobile to base) with a Stryker radio going into a straight 6 Class C amplifier.
    (I'm sure it was a freak occurrance. All the stars were in alignment that day)

    I think he was just talking about the guy saying aircraft antennas are the best ones or something like that

    And Center load has a lower take off angle than a bottom load, but higher angle than top load.
    Not a bad compromise between structural integrity and performance.

    Actually if ya look at a 10k,its more of a mid load rather than a top..I played around with a 10k k's top mast and make it 50% shorter with so so results..

    Top load 5/8 wave wire wound glass antenna is the answer to the OP's question. The thicker the glass rod the better, as tall as you can run on your truck.

    blah blah blah blah blah run the borough's and Chicago in a big truck 13'6" is all ya get..... or just tear your #### up. hopefully your antenna. not topping out the truck and trailer .....
