I have never worked the full term after giving notice with an employer. The work usually "runs dry" one week early. There are no "negative marks" when switching employers. If you can get a good reference then that is very helpful. Reason for giving notice is courtesy only. If you have a good record and poor relationship with current employer, switch immediatly.

    @Chinatown ... Thanks

@OP ... I was seriously looking at USX when I was just getting into selecting a company and Chinatown pointed me into the direction of like five smaller companies that had their own in house training programs. I checked into them and ended up going with Abilene out of Richmond, Virginia. They will hire new drivers that have completed a CDL School and received their certificate of completion and obtained their CDL.

I have been here now going on only five months and am very happy with the company thus far.

But I also agree with many of the other posters here... Hard to make a good decision after only a month into it. Team driving with a good experienced driver will give you a wealth of knowledge. I wasn't so sure after a month into it here either. If you can hold on for a few more months then you will have some experience going into the next company and could avoid their training program all together.

But, I didn't care for the team aspect of our training program either and was so ready to run solo after they cut me loose after a couple months and now things are much smoother for me in my own truck.

If you want additional information about my company or just need to chat with another newbie, just drop me a PM here. Always have time to chat with another new driver from this forum.

Stay Safe and good luck on your decision,
    MD

Well it won't be team driving with an expierenced driver it will be with another student.

I just don't like the idea of it and I can't sleep whatsoever with the truck moving. Also I should be able to get home every week or maybe 2.

Also I would like some better training Expecially backing and averitt is supposed to have a great training program I hear from other drivers not just there website and a week of backing school which I really need.

I'll be done with this "training" the end of this week so I'll call them about my app then if they don't call me first

Navajo Express hires at 21 and may have what you want as to training.

so im signed up to start with averitt and have been through there whole process.

I finished training with USX and am now on home time before going to upgrade I haven't set a date to come in yet, what is the proper way to go about telling them I don't wanna work for them with still being on good terms with them (if that's possible) I just don't want anything to go on my dac report.

The vast majority of us (I'd wager 99%) of us are not working for the first or second job we landed.

I am at my 4th job in 7 years (first one for 1.5 years, second for a whole month, third for 3.5 years and I'm approaching 2 years at job #4).

It's a career: looking for instant gratification is a short term outlook.

Take the long view: you will be driving for many years. Learn the ropes and earn a good reference where you are and a whole world of better jobs and opportunities opens up.

Start job hopping before you have experience and references and your cReet is over before it began.

Sometimes we have to settle in the short term to succeed in the long term. So many people today feel entitled to something they haven't put in the time for yet.
