Sorry, I did not mean to snipe at you on the earlier post but it has been a long day and I don't like being corrected when it's not my mistakes.

Well this guy has a few days off starting today as a result of this. He now has to turn in his logs at the end of each day from now on until he can show he knows what he is doing. It is not that big of a deal because this guy in particular is mostly the yard guy and barely drives at all. We just use him when we need him. This is the way he wants it he prefers to work the yard rather than drive.

Out of 120 drivers at this company there are only a select few who really dont get it. We get audited by dot all the time due to having school contracts and we pass every time. I think thats pretty good for a company that doesnt use e-logs everything is hand written in their hand writing.

With 120 drivers, elogs might not be a bad idea, as they are coming anyhow. My guess is 2 to 3 years until they are mandated, either by the FMCSA or Congress.

i wonder if anyone realizes that e logs can be changed, not by the driver but at the office. its not like they are set in stone once the in cab unit logs it.

It's a fairly easy switch. We switched 380 drivers to eLogs in a period of 3 months. Lost about 75 miles per week in utilization. Probably a good idea to start focusing on your best practices before hand and pounding trip planning and HOS into your drivers before you make the switch. Then put someone on call to answer the ridiculous questions that are sure to pop up.

Most are even set up so that the driver can edit lines 1, 2 and 4.

He had 7 hours available, what if he was on duty 10 hours but only performed a safety sensitive task for the first 7 hours? Maybe he did paperwork for 3 hours after he parked.

Yep, I think you misquoted me. I'm talking about other drivers, not the driver in question. I ramble and what not.
