TQL paid me over 150\hr for 6 hours detention on the first load I ever pulled for them in 2018. Why? Because I get everything agreed to in writing before the truck is dispatched.

TQL has paid me $250 at least 5 times over the last 4 years for TONU. Why? Because I get everything agreed to in writing before the truck is dispatched.

Lots drivers here but few Carriers. You're running a business now, not just driving...act like it. TQL, just like any other broker out there will take mile if you give them an inch.

I've made alot of money with TQL. Detention, TONU, layover etcetera are always included if they happen and I'm always paid on time. Why? See above.

Good sound advice right there, things I hadn't considered. I'll chalk it up to inexperience, I'm only 6 months into this whole trucking thing.

To the others whining, I've hauled quite a few loads with TQL. No issues with any loads so far. Possibly a few miscommunication though.

I was set to haul a load of onions to NY from Hatch, NM. Got to the shipper only to find they had no load for me.

Yeah, it was the brokers fault (not TQL), and with that brokers attitude I told them to stick it and deadheaded 900 miles home, and I was fine with it.

But, on that drive home after I calmed down, i realized I owned some of that eff up myself.

Since then, I get a rate con from any broker, and I call shipper and receiver before I ever move the truck.

Problems that can cause a driver a lot of trouble three days from now, can probably be resolved right now pretty quick.

    Take some responsibility

I never could quite understand the mindset of driver's that believe that the trouble they face with broker's not paying detention, TONU or anything else is the driver's fault.

The broker's LOVE these driver's that believe everything is the driver's fault. One of the wealthiest brokers in business refuses to take care of driver's that are faced with delays beyond their control and somehow it's the driver's fault.

I can assure you on that first run I did for them I would have certainly been burnt BUT because I did so much research by spending months searching this site I was 100 percent on top of my game and knew I would NOT get burnt by them. I learned it all right here on TTR. I didn't even have an account here yet. I just read, read and read some more.

TQL told me the commodity was supposed to be flat steel sheets and it wasn't even close. Ended up being tons of small pieces used to make a large footbridge between two tall hospital buildings. It took them forever to load my truck and for me to secure it all.

I didn't mind though because I covered all my bases in writing before I ever turned the key. I learned a couple very valuable lessons on that run. First, was absolute confirmation that doing my due diligence and research paid off painlessly. Two, get it in writing and never move the truck until it is. I've stuck to my guns all these years since.

You had a luxury to be in charge of the situation. You took time and played it well. It should be a textbook case how you set yourself up for a load before you commit to it.
However, the luxury does not always exist. There are times you cannot command like that. Because of the lack of time, patience, poor negotiating position.

TQL are snakes because they often lie about details, from the very beggining - lol - they told me once that it was a load of radiators but forgot to mention that they were scrapped matel junk yard radiators and were not too happy when I told them to stick it. What did they expect? They will bite you when they get a chance. You can try to cover all the basis with these rate con amendments but for some it is just easier not to use them. I don't, for the peace of mind. I really prefer Uber over them.

Oh, I agree and this load was exactly one of those lying dirtbag loads too. I was told the load was going to be a couple flat steel sheets and that's it. Far from it! However, I do disagree about the existence of the, "luxury". The Carrier ALWAYS has the upper hand. Nobody is forcing us to take a load...ever. Get what you want or don't load it. Period. Otherwise one shouldn't complain when they get bent over since they essentially agreed to it from the start.

This isn't true at all. You guys pass off cheap freight then blacklist a carrier for questioning. When the broke federal law for broker carrier transparency.
