One thing you had to deal with is the noise from the high horsepower engine as well during idle while trying to sleep and while going down the road. How's your hearing today?

6000 kg on the steers is only if the truck is rated for it. Most steer axles on older trucks are only rated for 12,000 lbs or 5443 kg.

Everyone should always look at the data plate or sticker on their door.

It was quiet going down the road. But I come from the old days. Those old motors made a racket, but a good sound of power. I also played bass in a band when I was young, worked in a body shop (one of the noisiest environments around), did some DJing, and basically trashed my ears years ago. Oh and back in 1996, I had just gotten divorced and was finally able to bail my old soft tail out of storage. What does a guy do with his new found freedom? Go to Daytona!!! Crashed on the way back. Destroyed my shoulder real good and blew out my left ear drum. They found it inside my head, so they stitched it back on (the ear doesn't freeze, even after 25 shots, trust me), and I have less than a quarter hearing on the widow side. So I rarely hear a turbo whine, or air leaks for that matter lol.

As for sleeping, that's what a bunk heater is for, nice and quiet. And I don't run the motor when it's -20 below because I always install a block heater too. Quiet inside, sounds like a jet engine outside lol.

The only thing that drives me bonkers when I'm trying to sleep is those ##### reefers. I usually go around a lot more than once trying to find a hole to sleep in without one of those infernal machines. Nothing worse than parking between two dry vans, and get woken up 2 hours later with 2 new reefers on each side. Grrrr.... So I'm one of those a-holes that parks the wrong way. At least those reefers keep the crap in my trailer awake, not me.

In the old days I'd carry a king pin lock with me, and then unhook and pull ahead if I got stuck with one of those trailers myself. Whomever wanted to steal the trailer would have to go at it at a bad angle, and they'd wake me up monkeying with my lock. Well gee, anybody could unlock one of those if they had the right key, and the manufacturers only use 4 different key codes across 10s of thousands of locks. So a bright lad like me took the initiative to get it re-keyed at a local locksmith. Nobody with one of the four generic keys could open mine. And crowbars make noise.

Anyhow, I usually install serious wattage and sound system and a monster sub in all my trucks. Hey, rock n roll keeps me young.......

Reefer drivers who set their reefer units to start/stop when parking at a truck stop should have the refrigerant drained and a/c compressor disconnected from their truck a/c and dispatched to Texas as punishment.

    That go's without saying.
for that matter, even if your truck is rated for it, are your tires? Just because you have tandem axles and dual wheels doesn't mean that you are automatically rated for 17,000kg on the wheel group. Your 16 inch 10 ply's probably wouldn't handle it.
