    Road Tech,
I see that you know a lot about the old Route 17 areas of NY. Is the Lounsbury Truck Stop still there? I used to stop often back in the 1970's when I ran southern NY between Binghamton and Cheektowaga. I think it was sold to foreigners years ago but thought I'd ask you. Good luck in your adventure and we'll be sure to stop when passing thru in our 5th wheel.

Well, where do you want my bus to stop? Sometimes the most convenient place is a truck stop. Though I only do regular route (NO charters, tour groups, or Mexican caravans), and I don't run buses in convoys of multiple. Usually only 1 bus at a time and we only carry individuals, not charter groups.

I remember one time at a bus stop at one of Sapp Bros along I - 80 in NE. The bus passengers were prohibited from buying beer, but with a store full of customers, bus and regular, how do you enforce the rule?
The clerk had a simple method. Someone walks up to buy a 6 pack. Clerk asks are you on the bus? Guy lies right through his teeth and says no. Clerk says show me your car keys. Bus passengers don't usually carry car keys, they are such losers they usually don't have a license, much less a car.
    Problem solved.

It's a love/hate thing for me. I hate it when I need to stop for fuel or grab a snack and there is a bus load of tourists inside.

It different when I'm stopping for the day to take a shower. I can open up the shower and let them use the toilet in exchange for a simple smile. Not thier idea, not what they were expecting for what they paid for.

The old lounsbury truck stop is still there but really a shadow of what it once was.
I run the area often but mainly stop at the dandy truck stop at the Nichols exit which is one exit up from Lounsbury.
There is an Indian owned casino at the Nichols exit now too.

Thanks for the updated information Hulld. I used to run old NY 17 quite often when I lived in NJ and we had a lot of runs to Buffalo area. I also stopped in at TA Dansville, Jim's Truck Stop and the Henrietta Truck Stop back when it was an original Truckstops of America. I appreciate it.

Thanks for the Well wishes ,be glad to have you stop by when we open. Should be later this year ,hopefully .As Hulld stated the Lounsbury truck stop is still there ,but it's pretty much a convenience store gas station now than an old school truck stop like it was in the past. I haven't stopped there in a few years ,lounsbury and Willawanna were almost daily stops for me years ago. I bet you stopped at the old Scott 60 on 81in PA too, that's been closed for years now . The flying J they put up in Gibson PA was the final nail in the coffin for the Scott 60.I travel mainly up to Waterloo everyday, between Syracuse and Rochester . Did you ever stop at the Red Apple restaurant on old 17 north of Tuxedo? It was more of an old school cafeteria style travel plaza than a truck stop, although trucks stopped there they had a gas station there too. It was always busy when it was in its hey day ( 1930's to the 1970's) ,they would serve 20'000 people in a busy weekend in the summer. I was always excited as a kid to go there when my parents took us there on our way upstate NY from New Jersey where I grew up. They had good food and it was always a stop on family road trips and vacations to Bear Mountain or Lake George / Lake Placid.
