Didn't your mother teach you to look both ways before crossing the street? If your life doesn't mean enough to you to look out for yourself, why should anyone else give a rip about you? Just because "pedestrians have the right of way" doesn't mean they should blindly take it. Just like motorcycles...right or wrong, you're just as dead. Get your nose out of your phone, take out the ear buds, and watch out for your own safety...hypothetically speaking.

i had to look up my state, yes, AFTER the repo..
(2) Without judicial process, if it proceeds without breach of the peace; provided however, in the case of repossession of any motor vehicle without knowledge of the retail buyer, the local police department shall be notified of such repossession within one hour after obtaining such possession. In the absence of a local police department or if the local police department cannot be reached for notification, the state police shall be promptly notified of such repossession. -
Which is why I said "in some jurisdictions"-read the fine print! And yes,I have done a few "asset recovery" missions-and not just regular passenger cars (Western Express was "very busy" with recovering trucks from drivers who fell behind on their "fleece purchase" payments).
-
Then name one such jurisdiction. I've never heard of prior notification...only soon after the vehicle has been nabbed. If you're aware of a jurisdiction that requires advance notice, post it up. Otherwise, your "some jurisdictions" doesn't really mean much. I'm not saying there aren't...just that I'm unaware of any. Enlighten me.
And working for the named entity on the title recovering a vehicle from a person whos name is nowhere to be found on the title is a little different than taking a car from a titled owner at the request of a 3rd party lienholder. -
######, i was hypothetically trying to trap you. It did not work.
What you speak is correct for you. I still dont believe anyone and everyone not involved in the repo has to be involved in the dangerous actions. Its a dangerous game yes. So is being an LEO. As far as i can tell, they take precautions to protect the public from the dangers they encounter..... in public.
I see there is no getting my point across to you. Thats fine. Its my opinion on it, but so help the repo man who injures or kills someone in my family. Ill sell everything i have and hire the best lawyer to bring that repo man down too.
P.s. you dont have to cross a street to get hit. What if a front tire on the truck blew? Or the car was not secured well enough and came flying off?
He (the repo driver) took the job. Knowing there is a big risk attached. There is no reason the inncocent public has to pay for you doing your job, protecting your life, at a job you knew was a dangerous job to start. -
I'm glad the cops caught up with him.
-
No it isn't really. The vehicle is still being repossessed by a creditor/lien holder. It'll still be refurbished/repaired if necessary prior to sale or reentery to service.Last edited: Aug 23, 2017

Just because you've never heard of it in your experience in your neck of the woods doesn't mean it applies elsewhere. Assumptions like that have gotten people into trouble, especially in asset recovery work.

Driver must have thought he was in a video game.
buddyd157 Thanks this. -
So enlighten me! Name even ONE jurisdiction that requires the cops be notified before the repo guy heads out to do his job. You are the one suggesting such a thing claiming "some jurisdictions" ...put up or shut up. I don't have the time or motivation to do an exhaustive search of every jurisdiction in the US to find the one or two examples that make up your "some jurisdictions" claim. You made the claim, so prove it. WHAT jurisdiction? I'm only asking for 1.
