Second rear axle block on spec tag is just noting the diff model gear ratio on the single axle. FL does the same thing on their single screws. Tandems should have 4 blocks stamped.

It’s a 38,000 pound tandem. There is no 38,000 pound single.

Rockwell has made a 70 ton 35-38,000 lbs single drives for trucks since 1951. My Diamond T has one. The old ones were big momma’s. They held almost 8 gallons of lube. As the years went by they became the same size as the others.

I’m not doubting you, but do you have and pictures of one that isn’t 40-60 years old? I’ve honestly never seen a single highway axle rated that high. I also don’t see the point. No state will let you go over 24 or 25,000 on a single. Most are 20 or 22,500

You can do that with a 23,000 pound axle. But thanks for the info. I got something new to google.
