I do operations for a 25 truck outfit. I book loads with TQL several times per week and I've never had a terrible experience with them. They're just like any other broker. If they have the rate I need on a particular lane, I'll book the load for my truck.
TQL is playing nasty

They have been demonized here and I am sure it is also in my mind too, however, pretty much every time I called them they lived up to their reputation of offering insulting cheap rates and I am not too demanding. But its their business what rates they give and their business does not need to be about christian values of sharing. It has to do with stories like this thread, or that one a few months back when they withdrew money from a guy bank account on a shaky pretense. It all accumulates. Once, one guy over there agreed to a rate which was fair but not too crazy, never sent a confirmation and never admitted that he promised me anything. I don't want to say I'll never book a load from them, they just got very bad press at this moment, and why should I not believe that it's justified.

My company has only been in business less than two years, so we are still growing our customer freight business and growing our fleet. At this time, we do about 90% of our business of off the load boards. If TQL has a load that's going to where my truck needs to be, I will book it if they agree to the rate that I need. Their credit is good (we don't use quick pay or factoring, just an old-fashioned check in the mail at 30 days) and so long as it remains good, I will not limit myself on available freight because an anonymous poster on an Internet message board had a bad experience with them.Mattflat362 Thanks this. -
Almost every time you call inquiring on a load, unless it's a really hot market and you know how to handle them, you're going to get lowballed. They rightfully think you need that load and will lowball you every time. And maybe the problem also is the area you are in. Everyone either needs a load or everyone needs a truck. But don't ever call TQL asking for a load. They'll treat you like a beggar every time and you'll never get a rate from them.KB3MMX, Dino soar, Highway_Executive and 2 others Thank this. -

Honestly....when I get back at it here shortly....I may only run for TQL and a few other small specialized brokers.
I realize they can be rough.....but get past that....and don't voluntarily screw yourself... and it can be a great relationship. They have a LOT of loads and they are growing and I have never had to pick up a phone and say where me money!??
That alone to me is priceless. The couple/few brokers that I have had to... take the time to sit down/realize I was unpaid/resend everything/wait again/check again/finally get paid..... makes me forgive some little faults of others.8thnote Thanks this. -

I don't understand why people complain that TQL has low rates? They either pay market rate or above (atleast for me, for some reason they always tell me they want my truck cause our rating in their company is good). Go into the right area that pays well and TQL will pay. I always get premium rates from them, but not because it's TQL, but because I know where there is good freight. I book TQL freight on a weekly bases at above markets rates. Choose the right equipment, and choose the right lane.
ALSO, they have agencies across the entire country, do not blame an entire company for one idiot's actionsKB3MMX and Mattflat362 Thank this. -
I wouldn't accepted it without a rate confirmation for both moves.Good luck
