Because we gotta keep the economy going. Call it the supply chain of $. Its pointless, and actually makes things harder, but it gets the $ around

I am new to having authority , but after dealing with several brokers, I will say that I WILL NEVER HAUL A LOAD FOR TQL EVER BECAUSE OF THEIR ATTITUDE AND EVERY ONE ELSE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION::biggrin_25516:

My authority is relatively new also. I have not hauled anything for TQL but am set up with them. They call occasionally when I am not even posted on any load boards. Whenever I talk with them, if the pickup is say within 1/2 hour drive and I can tell they really need it moved, I give them a very high rate. We have yet to do any business together. I am making it along just fine without them. (or CHR, for that matter)

That is how you will get a high rate from them and CHR gokiddo. And you will be flagged in their system as a company that doesn't trifle with cheap loads. Stick to your guns and it will pay off. I never mess with TQL but haul a lot of freight for CHR $3 a mile gross on 400 miles, more for less miles. They are still at the low end of what my truck moves for, #### they are good at holding price down!!, but I've made a lot of money, hauled lots of freight for them and it was never so cheap as to be unprofitable. They have the systems in place to exploit cheap, weak carriers. Don't be one and at some point you will see they actually can and do pay great rates occasionally, even consistently.

Please keep in mind that every broker and their business ethics are different. I used to work for TQL years ago. Each broker has their own business within a business. With that being said, every broker runs their operation differently. TQL teaches their brokers to make every dollar possible. Some guys are cut-throat and will not pay a TONU. But guys like me, will always take care of their carriers. Sometimes, a customer or shipper does make a mistake and a load may not be ready, or a crane could be broken, or the forklift is down, or another carrier may have already picked up the load, and on and on......we have all heard every excuse in the book. But, it does happen on occasion. A good broker will take care of the carrier, whether it is their first load, or their 100th load it should not make any difference. I think that your word in business is enough. If you tell a carrier that you have a load and the truck goes to the shipper, and the load cancels........then the broker should pay the truck for its services. The problem with TQL is that they are so big, just like CH Robinson, that you start dealing with people right out of college who have never been in this business or this industry before. So all they are looking at are numbers. "How can we be as profitable as possible?" What they dont realize is without the trucks, none of this ##### would get moved. Every broker runs their business different than the next guy. A good broker will take care of their trucks. A bad broker wont. Most of the time the bad brokers dont last.

and a good used car salesman will take care of his customers
and a good mechanic will take care of the car he maintains
and a good politician will take care of his constituents

Hey, brokers can say the same things about trucks. I have played on both sides of the football. Right now, I am playing offense and defense. It goes both ways. Trucks can be just as shady as the brokers. I see it every week in and out from both sides. All I'm saying is it takes 1 dk-weed to ruin it for everyone.

    you know, you are right

there are some bad drivers out there, dangerous, drug addicts, even thieves and murderers

but that has nothing to do with the broker pricing freight or lying to say the load was canceled when it was not

i deal with some pretty good brokers and if even FEEL a broker is lying, i dont deal with him at all

this business is too big to feel muscled by either a driver or a broker or a company or a shipper or receiver

if you are a good broker, your drivers will come to trust you
if you are a good driver, brokers will come to trust you
