"Just load my truck and don't bother me I know what I'm doing" -

I've been out here for 22 yrs & tql is the ONLY broker that calls @ 4 am. no other broker I've hauled for has ever called me @ that time. I look @ it this way, I went & load it then ran til the wee hours of the morning & they want to call me & wake me up for an update when they could easily do it @ 8am or later. that's their problem they got my attitude. if they can't wait til 8am or so for me to call them & give them an update as to where i'm @ & what's going on then they should possibly give that load to someone else who they know they can bother & harass; I won't put up with it.

Possible to send small text before end of night at least what city your in and tell them approx when heading out next morning? Besides I'd have my cell off when I'm sleeping to not be woken.

LOVE threads/replies like these. Makes me not doubt I'll do fine on my new venture. Gives me a great understanding on the O/O/Broker communication skills. :)

That's really it.... Pusherman is right about them calling at 4 AM. They do it to us, too, even after check calls were done an hour prior. It seems that there is a broken communications protocol inside of TQL, especially between the weekend crew and the night crew. Knowing this, I try to be friendly still when they call and wake me up. I know it's tough, and if you're like me... wake me up when I've had 1.5 hours of sleep and you're getting yelled at like it or not because my brain is on auto-rage without me even realizing it. BUT... I know that is how I am unintentionally, so I protect my customers by turning off my phone, and making sure my dispatchers are attentive to TQL's needs, all with a friendly tone and willingness to help. That simple arrangement goes a LOOOOONNNG way. TQL is used to getting screamed at, so when they have a reasonable, polite, or even HAPPY person on the other end, once again, they remember you for that, which is absolutely priceless when it comes to marketing your company. You can't buy good word of mouth marketing, which is the holy-grail. So capitalize on their "neediness" and stand out above the other carriers. Your rates will start to show it as you build that reputation. Just my .02.

BINGO!!!! Very well said. Seen several messages about check calls to a broker. I'd be calling them more than them calling me. Just to keep the peace and a great broker to keep rates up etc.....Most drivers talking 24/7 on that cell anyway :) Why not keep your bread and butter happy? ..........By the way very nice truck VL .

tql is ONE of millsions of brokers.

missing out on one broker doesn't hurt my feel bads to avoid the harrasement.

no one else calls my phone 10 times in the wee morning hours and leaves messages.

heck, no one calls my phone. PERIOD. and THAT'S the way i like it.

missing out on customers. not hardly. just TQL.

Well here is what happened. Hats off to KQ-TQL, he went out of his way to get in touch with not only me, but the staff in the claims department to get this matter resolved. I'm sorry to say that I had no luck what so ever in getting a break on this after speaking to someone in that department.

When I was patched through I asked how late was this shipment that I am being billed for $150, she said it was 3 hours late. WRONG, I said that shipment was delivered an hour late, and I said that this is hardly a reasonably price for a shipment being an hour late. The confirmation said NOTHING about the price of a late delivery. TQL said the customer was billing them for the late delivery. Even though the shipment was late, I agreed I would write them a check for the $150, but said that I would not do this again and it would be my last shipment for TQL.

I would like to add something else to this story, and that I had another shipment for TQL to pick up that morning in the same city. That shipment was canceled supposedly by the customer and TONU was not paid at all. I can't help but wonder.

I think the guy was trying to explain that maybe he didn't want to talk when he was a sleep at 4 a.m. I don't think he was trying to say that he didn't want to talk to TQL.
