This is why I make it a point not to be late for deliveries. If you're late, you have lost any opportunity that you had to negotiate.

 

Agreed. But when I leave the loading dock, I only stop moving for fuel (15 minutes max), bathroom breaks (always at a rest area; in and out in 5 minutes or less) or breaks required by HOS. Until I reach the receiver. This method has kept me on-time for scheduled deliveries, even in the face of blown tires, popped brake chambers, Interstate-closing wrecks, hurricanes and other truck-stopping events.

 

I missed the 'several months later' part. TQL settled with you on the load. I'd call that unfair and deceptive trade practices - back billing you on a settled contract because their customer is not paying them in full.

 

Delivered tql load earlier today.for Erin never dealt with him,normally zack,Marcus. Erin says 1pm appt.
Get to rec.12pm they tell me appt. is for 5pm call,no Erin anywhere I'm not to happy. Have good paying load to pickup.can't wait till after 5.look up Marcus ext.from previous dealings.in door at 12:50pm out 1:30pm...moral of the story make good contacts. Keep good records. Now sitting under good paying load,instead of sitting

 

I understand what your saying. But you had 24 hours to go 200 miles. Now someone correct me if I'm wrong on that and fact that he most likely waited to last few hours before the load due and got caught in traffic and was late. Or just flat out left late from where he was at? Let's deal with the FACTS and NOT excuses on why,how and beat around the bush..........You have to know just busting ur chops to keep you from doing it again. Man up!! If you signed that deal, deal with it and pay. Put urself in their shoes if you were held over at a delivery (detention pay).

 

WINDSMITH........Who signed the contract to deliver freight ON TIME and given 24 hours on a 200 mile run? That's the FACT! Granted i agree with all that's dirty way they did it but they just got payed by shipper and recieved papaerwork maybe? By no means defending a broker/shipper but the truth is the truth. I miss old days when a mans' word and handshake was honest and good business. Now days everyone tries to beat around the bush and makes excuses to redirect from the truth and facts. Ouch!!! I'm starting to stick foot in mouth.....LOL I better stop.
