could be a random scammer, that once you answered that phone? they locked in on you since you verified the number.

could be that the number you have, belonged to a person who is doing this, or someone still thinks he/she has that number.

try blocking the calls, or hey, get a new number?

    tscottme Thanks this.

If he is getting vulgar text, it’s probably a different situation than car warranty people.

if you already mentioned “for legal reasons” this can be argued in court of an evil plan. Stop talking about it.

No it is really impossible to do this because of how the system works. You may track the number to an open pool of numbers or even to yourself (I've gotten called from my cell phone "number" to my cell phone).

See there no way to stop number spoofing, even though it isn't all that legal.

Thanks. I’m looking for information about how the technology works. It seems for this person to be traced they’ll have to have little technical knowledge.

Had the same problem and if you have an IPhone there’s a simple solution. In your settings go to Phone and scroll down until you come to Silence unknown callers and change to yes. The only calls that ring through are in your contacts. It don’t block them but they don’t ring through. They will still show in notifications and will be in your recents so you can erase them. I know if your expecting a call and they aren’t in your contacts it won’t ring through but if it’s legit they’ll leave you a message and you can call them back. Don’t know if android phones have this capability.

The websites offering you info for a payment can be a scam and some might give you a decent clue. Most are using simple data mining scripts made in Python, Php, ROR, others, with these they just grow a database of search terms and refine them over time. Many of them are cloned and put on a different domain using the same database to better their overall search accuracy, this is why some sites resemble each other and have ads all over for revenue.

You can however get some decent results, people love giving their info away for web fame.

    Have your number changed.
    Literally the easiest option.
Tracing calls etc doesn’t really work that well, excluding the fbi/nsa/cia/csa no ones really got the tech

But take a chance and pay for the background/number search if they’re dumb enough to be using a phone provided by a major provider you’ll get their name possibly
