I've heard of services that will text/email you when your truck arrives to drop off/pick up a load. Does anyone have more information on this?

You hardwire it underneath the dashboard.

I used to work for a company that had an account where we pulled the customers trailers. They had a device called skybits. It had a battery in it, so even if the trailer was dropped they'd know where it was. They could track in real time anytime they wanted. I have no idea how much the device and service cost though.

Plug it into a 12 volt phone charger and leave it.

Oh that's an idea too... I wasn't thinking of needing it to be hidden but if you need that then your idea of hardwiring a 12v connection in a hidden location would work great.
