I think that describes 90% of the threads here going beyond 2 pages .Meltom, mje, BigBadBill and 1 other person Thank this.

I did not state anywhere in my thread that this is a conspiracy theory. I merely stated if the EOBR's are intended for safety, compliance and uniformity than why have them if they can be changed at the discretion of the company? Please explain that issue, because frankly they are no different than paper logs if they can be changed, the only difference is the change occurs with a push of a few buttons. So essentially we have one thing left once you strip away what the EOBR is intended to do; and that is the ability to track. So again I am not saying there is any conspiracy but rather I am pointing out a fact that can't be disputed (where there is no ability before a mandated EOBR to track all truckers, after a mandate their will be the ability).mje and volvodriver01 Thank this.

Where did I single you out? It was a general comment, directed at no one person in particular, so your paranoia is unfounded.mje Thanks this.

Well Autocar, I went back and read each & every post and since i was the only one that mentioned tracking it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out who you were meaning but if I am mistaken, so be it. Either way there is no paranoia on my part and be careful about trying to diagnose paranoia unless you have a license..

All edits to e-logs are recorded . Records show who made the changes and why .
Yes , there WAS a way to track drivers before EOBR's . Many carriers have GPS equipped smartphones . An EOBR only tracks truckers while driving , actually . They can be out of the truck doing whatever whether they are on duty or not .mje Thanks this. -
You are partially incorrect in your statement that there is a way to track drivers before EOBR's because not everyone uses GPS systems especially O/O who are independent. Though after the system is mandated than everyone will be able to be tracked. I mean its not like we are not tracked not in other areas of our life because we are. My issue is if the system is for safety, compliance and uniformity than no changes should be allowed even if the changes are recorded.mje Thanks this.

As with all regulation, there is the law of unintended consequences.
