Not sure he can. My Qualcomm MCP200 reminds me of the old original personal computers. That thing takes so long to boot up from a shut down, and it can't seem to figure out for a minute or two sometimes, that I actually pushed a selection. Stupid thing still has a hard drive in it and uses an archaic version of Windows for the operating system. I wouldn't pay Qualcomm $15 for this thing, yet they have carriers buffaloed into actually believing this is cutting edge. Half the time it can't even tell which direction I am going, and the GPS routing in it will say I am going the wrong direction. Man, Qualcomm sure has a real scam going.
Sounds like my carrier . We got e-logs after the carrier got burned in an audit because the safety department didn't know how to audit logs but the FMCSA inspector had no problem finding several serious violations . We have had several drivers terminated due to abuse of personal conveyance .
Here we go again with the ''newbie bs''...I find it amazing that everyone trys so very hard to ''undermine'' us old timers expertise.
****** EOBR's is just the GOVERNMENT quick fix BAND AID to a much much deeper problem in the world of trucking.Once again the FMCSA and the DOT have done nothing to address the REAL ISSUES with drivers...******
The public listening commentary was rather interesting the half hour i listened to and participated with on friday. May as well have sat and listened to that board spew "it's for the kids!" Rhetoric.
According to the Landstar E-LOG users. You would be amazed what they have ''figured'' out all ready..If there is a will, there is a way and a trucker with all the ''time'' on his hand, will figure out how to crack the code..
The MCP200 uses Windows? Seriously? I would've thought it'd use at least something like QNX or VxWorks, or another embedded system. Shouldn't be surprised though...I happened across an older style of EOBR device in one Ryder fleet truck that used CP/M. And, older versions of Windows have so many cracks and holes you'd think the neighbor ran a driving range. If anyone has an unused MCP200 (or any other EOBR style device, especially Peoplenet) I'd love to get my hands on a few and tear them down to see what's inside.
