I have a guy in NY and NH allready working on these E-LOGS.There will be something out there soon to help us drivers...Just like the guys in the truck stops that have the programs to turn up company drivers trucks for 100 bucs...Companies thought they were real slick at slowing guys down...:biggrin_2559:..Them company trucks got the last laugh..

So, you actually believe it's okay to tamper with the settings of a company truck even at the risk of getting caught, fired and being branded on your DAC?

I read his post, and I was not able to determine that he was suggesting tinkering with a COMPANY truck? Or that the post was directed at company drivers specifically. If these things get mandated, everyone is going to have to use them. The similarity is speed limiters. Companies may set them and one would risk getting fired for tampering with it. Those of us that actually pay the bills, may not have any kind of speed limiter set, or if one was set in a truck we bought, we could disable it. So, it is not beyond the realm of reality that an O/O would find a way to tamper with an EOBR in their own truck. The problem then would not be getting fired or "branded" on your DAC. The problem then would be if there is an accident, and an enterprising lawyer found out you had tampered with the EOBR, you are going to be in a world of hurt. Companies don't bother me. A District Attorney or a lawyer in a civil suit does. They can make your life miserable far longer, and more severely than a company can.

Just what is that going to do for a one-truck show?

Allow them to operate, once they are mandated. Also, less hassle with inspectors as it is harder to falsify an EOBR than paper. Less time spent on record keeping, also.

He said there are guys at truckstops who will adjust company truck limiters for $100. Seems clear to me he means company drivers. I know a guy at a previous company I worked for who thought he was really tech savy and found a way to idle the truck for hrs when off duty and it not recording on the metrics data of Qualcomm. They updated the software to detect tampering and he was found out and fired and branded.

I know the system I'm on will show on a map how fast your going. If your going 65 in a 55 state, the company can tell. The lawyers are going to have a heyday with these things. More chance of lawsuits with them. There will be lawsuits because of ONE MILE PER HOUR (already happening to the company my boss is leased to). Next thing to happen will be for us to get tachographs. You'll get a ticket for speeding several days ago.

But hey, it's all for "safety". (Not revenue )

Way too much . Even a dealership will do it cheaper with less risk and you have a legitimate expense to deduct .
