    Dear TR Forum:

I have run across many interesting federal trucking stats on legal trailer height, length, width and axle weight. However, I have yet to find the following:

What is the legal weight limit for a tractor in a combination and what is the average weight?

    Thanks,

    Shadow

    Tractor
    12,000 steer
    17,000 per drive axle
There is no laws on tare weight.
How would this average tractor be equipped? This can vary by thousands of pounds.

    TheShadow Thanks this.

Thanks Bender. However, I am just curious about the average weight of the Tractor ALONE with NO trailer attached please.

    Shadow.

34,000 on the drives maximum. However different states have different weights you can put on steers. You need to get a good atlas that explains that. You also have to watch the rating on the tire. I n Tennessee it's some big weight. But if the rating of your tire is only 6,750 pounds. You cannot go over 13,500. Ticket. Texas is same way.

It depends on the tractor you are driving.

When you are bobtail, weigh it. Then you will know what your tractor weighs with the amount of fuel you have.
