Hi p47, that's ok, the argument starts when people don't know what they're talking about. To say fairings and wind deflectors don't do anything, is plum silliness. But that's the beauty of this site, you can write what you want, within reason, of course. In all my years, I've driven trucks with and without, and I know full well what a head wind does to your mileage and forwardly progress. Even in my pickup, I'll draft a truck (at a safe distance, of course) and get 2-3 more mpg doing so.

    p47 Thanks this.

All production off hoods was stopped several years ago in the EU.
ANd it is because off the lenght laws.
The only hoods left are old ones or rebuild COE (they put the cab back and put a hood on the engine but it does cost 80 000$)

In the future there will be short hoods again(after 2020 and no long hoods).
Lenghtlaws will be changed a little to make the trucks more aero so they are more fuelefficient.

"Semi retired"'s point about drag and fuel is valid.

p47 and "semi" retired Thank this.
