Thank you for the very kind words, @Alaska76

I've always figured that the first step to learning is to admit to yourself that you don't know everything and, put another way, that you can always learn new things.

Having trained new recruits -- both in and out of uniform -- I've learned that dealing with people who have a problem admitting to a lack of knowledge in a particular area can be particularly frustrating...and even unrewarding.

For the life of me, I can't feature why someone would start a thread on an open forum and obstruct the open flow of productive thought. In my mind, the free exchange of information and ideas is, by far, the best thing about the internet.

What is the purpose of having a 13 double over? Do they make a 13 speed with no overdrive?

    johndeere4020 and HandLogger Thank this.

They make 13 direct and 13 single over drive as well as "double overdrive".

RTLO16913A ( just for example) the final 2 gear ratios are .87 and .73 to one respectively. (2 gears with ratios beyond 1:1/direct)
RTO14613 the final overdrive is .87. Essentially a half shift lower and slower than the rtlo.

I don't have a model number handy: but I've run a 13 direct. 3 position single switch, and the final ratio is 1:1.
    Ranges
    "lo" 1,2,3
    "Int" 4,5,6,7,8
    "Dir" 9,10,11,12,13

Yes they made a 13 direct some called it an 8 under. It was an RT 14613.

I had a RTOO14613 in my red Pete. She would really get loose but noisey. Once a year I was dragging the back box off of it. They were a weaker than the RTLO series. The 6 series and down were direct in the main box with an overdrive rear. The 7 And 9 series are overdrive in the front with an under drive back box to achieve the splits.

As long as I don't own it I'd be laughing.
