    IIRC, I read something about how it was a smaller, lighter vehicle doing the pull because the pumping unit was dead (see the airline running back). That pump unit is no doubt max'd out at about 100,000 lbs. Instead of gently pulling ahead to take out the slack in the tow sling, they wound up and took a run at it. Those heavy-duty tow slings are hell-a-strong; I carry one that is about 60,000 lbs working and about 180,000 breaking. The amount of energy built up in the sling was huge and something had to give. Apparently it was more than the frame could handle and you can see where the front end of that KW hit the tow vehicle.

    Just wait. There will be some sad, miserable yahoo, who bought an old Werner fleet truck, with a 430 Detroit and a direct 9, 38k rears, converted it to a 4 axle with super singles, and pulls a 7 axle and gets 8 mpg. He will resurrect this thread in 2 years and swear up and down that everyone that doesn't run a truck like his is stupid. And he will get a hard on for JD and go back and respond to every post JD ever made. And because the way this forum is made, even if JD ignores the person, the guy can still have a hard on for JD.

    It's the online version of those guys that hangs out in the pickle parks, rubbing his goobers trying to get attention, or sitting in a stall tapping a good buddy Morris code with his feet looking for a skin flute.

    A truck that got stuck in one of the mines here. He was hauling a large excavator. Plan was to disconnect the neck and drag the truck out. Then walk the hoe off. Being buried in mud they couldn't verify the neck was disconnected. Super operator on the D11 knew it all and figured why lightly tug on the cable with the ripper and make sure everything was good? Why not just put it in 1st and start pulling? All said and done the nice aluminum moose bumper and front crossmember were mangled up about 8 feet in front of the brand new truck. The neck didn't fully disconnect. :biggrin_2559:

    He's a real Heavy Hauler now. Even went and got him some of those 1/2" chains he always see the big guys using. But man they sure are heavy, 4 will probably be enough. Sure was a lot of work to carry all 4 of those.

    Probably why he is still using the 3/8-1/2" snap binders. All wore out from those heavy chains.
