Years ago when I started buying and re-selling trucks. I learned real quick walk away if it is a (bait and switch) all you will be out is air fare and a few hundred $$$ I have walked away from many so-called deals like that. Never regreted it! If it is an individual selling, belive it or not you have more power in the deal than the seller. I have re- negotiated many deals after seeing a pc of equipment in person.

Thought I would offer this, I sent my transmission out to have it cracked and checked while it was on the floor and we aren't that busy. It looked pretty good just fixing a couple things, it's a 18918 the said to exchange it for reman was $6000. That of course was trading an 18 for an 18, I don't know if that would change if your core was a different model.

Another really useful series of posts, fellas. The words about watching out for unscrupulous dealers are certainly well taken -- and I will do all I can to avoid that.

Thanks for adding the post about your 18918 experience, @johndeere4020 . It makes for a great addition to the chapter of this thread that was dedicated to transmissions.

    Really productive thread!

Well since this thread has kinda taken the direction of transmissions let me ask you all a question. What is the difference between an A and B model? Specifically in relation to a 13.

    I don't think there's many 13 speeds with a B suffix..
    18 speed with a B suffix has a .73 final over; A has ...like a .86/.87 final over. From the 13speeds I've had and run, a 13A has a final of .73.
I know I had a RTO14613 for a brief period: that had a .86 final over, but I don't recall a suffix one way or the other at all.

My 13 speed is a RTOF-9513 - no suffix. The above list says it is a .87 final.

We're presently looking at a year 2000 Kenworth equipped with an ISX-475 and an RTL018918B. Any productive thoughts on this particular combination, especially the engine, would be most greatly appreciated.
