I am looking to purchase a new or good condition rig and looking for any advice. This is our companies first CDL class vehicle so we only have dealer(s) information to rely on so far.
Local deliveries - Day cab
Start with a 24' flatbed trailer add a 48' down the road. Delivering to job-sites so want that smaller footprint for ease of access
Piggyback Forklift
What should I be looking for? Makes? Set-ups? Suggestions?
Tractor/Trailer/Forklift combo recommendations?

Deliver more with MOFFETT truck mounted forklifts
some states require a hoisting license as well, to operate a moffett truck...
you will have to check with your state licensing board for construction equipment
if you try to avoid this law/requirement, and an accident takes place, the operator, the company can be held liable and sued. workmans comp can also deny any work related claim, to a non-licensed operator, since the operator would be "not qualified" to operate the machine...
not to be fooled around with.OBarco Thanks this. -
also, check with SOD companies, they use moffetts, see what they have. lumber yards as well....and of course, Home Depot, and Lowes....have these for thier deliveries..
OBarco Thanks this. -
Does Sunbelt Rentals use something similar?
-
i think there is only one Sunbelt in my area, i really would not know, but i i just did a search on thier website, and no, they do not have moffett trucks.

lumber yard, Lowes, Home Depot set up
Chinatown Thanks this. -
i operated a Lowes straight truck many years ago.. i did not have a hoisting license, but the store was going to provide me with what i needed to obtain a hoisting license in the state of MA. but i had found another job, and never got the hoisting license..
i "think" a hoisting license is different form a fork lift license...(in some states)..i cannot recall right now and i do not have that book i was given. -
what kind of product are you delivering? That will impact what specifically will help you in specs. -
Bingo! 24’ trailer is not really much more useful then a heavy 4 axle straight truck where I live. We can put 50k of block on the deck of both in the commercial zone.Tug Toy Thanks this.

What is your operating area, are you crossing state lines?
This will help decide what laws/regulations you will have to comply with.
