Sorry to jump in but I’m also learning So: how many tons would a regular 3 axle truck with a 4 axle RGN trailer is able to haul,, of course depending on the state

My annual permit in Idaho allows a bit over 150K gross on 7 axles, on the highest rated routes like the interstate, and is reduced to around 115k on the lowest rated routes. My tare is 42K.

I am not sure what would be gained by just adding a fourth trailer axle with no spreader bar, as the axle spacings have to be submitted to the state for them to calculate the most that they will allow. This is on an annual overweight permit though, not legal axle weights.

But what one can scale depends on a lot of things. Well length, neck length, axle spacing and weight distribution of the price it’s self. Plus what the state will allow.
