More like thousands for every one that does it half-right. I saw one guy walking around his truck this morning, before that the last time I saw someone do a pre-trip was in March at a Loves in Indiana. I remember because it was so #### cold and I was pissed out there freezing my ### off and I was shocked to see another driver actually out there with me.

Nope, not many rigs moving at 4am, but I get up as late as 6. Doesn't matter. All I see is trucks starting up, curtains open up, and rigs pull out. These drivers don't even get out to take a piss.

About 15 or so years ago I was standing next to my company's head of safety discussing a problem I was having. It was about 6 AM and both of us were drinking coffee. A guy got out of his truck, walked inside the terminal for a few, and walked back to his truck. Cranked it up and left. The safety guy asked me did he do a pretrip? I said I honestly don't know. I do know I had been there for several hours before and seen little movement. I have seen drivers get up and leave a truck stop with flat tires and general air leaks. Heck, I remember watching a "stinky simon" driver (long time ago) leave the Petro in Carnesville Ga with his trailer door swinging open. Lord knows I am about as far from perfect as a human can get, but, dang some of the "tools" driving these days makes my eyes almost bug out!

Edited: I would also add all the one-eyed monsters. I would be willing to say at least 5% of all CMVs on the road RIGHT NOW have a headlight out!
