Actually ACROSS THE POND is a transatlantic idiom used as a reference to the country on the other side of the Atlantic.

Pigeon River you won't get into US with a orange in your lunch. I made a point of having none of the products on board when crossing border. Interesting read...

possibly this is the explanation fruit and vegetables must be in packages...likely to state country of origin..

    Fruits and vegetables: fresh
    • one bag up to 4 kilograms of US number 1 potatoes per person and the bag must be commercially packaged
    • 15 packages or less up to 250 kilograms of fresh fruits and vegetables per person (excluding potatoes)
    • must be free from soil, pests, leaves, branches and/or plant debris
    • some restrictions on some fresh fruit and vegetables from California, Idaho, Oregon, and Washington
    • in British Columbia (BC): restrictions on fresh apples, stone fruit and potatoes
Use AIRS to confirm if the product is allowed before bringing it into Canada.

    For assista

Only issue I ever had was due to an orange!
Citrus and grapes is a real big deal into the states, I've been asked if I have uncooked seal and goat meat too!

I always grabbed fresh fruit and vegetables in Minnesota and everything would be consumed time I returned to border. Keeps transition time through customs at a minimum.

My own rule was nothing perishable crossed the border... it just made life a lot easier. I just made my first stop at the closest convenient store.

Well im at the border, was informed that the broker didn't give customs the manifest number. My pars is good, just no attached manifest number in their system. Contacted the broker and he said that when they went to contact the customer yesterday they were already closed. So here I wait on the broker
