Not as much revenue as most people think and in many cases it actually costs the city rather than turns a profit. The processing company is the one that makes all of the money.

Every dolllar of the cities portion is 100% profit to the city, as they do not pay to install or repair the cameras or even the postage and processing of the tickets as this is covered by the red light camera company......the city has nothing to lose and everything to gain.Last edited: Aug 13, 2011

I think the legality of these cameras will shut down the gravy train at some point.

I wonder who pays the cost of the court when they have to try to prove the violation on those that fight them? -
arking tickets) remember these are civil fines and will never end up in traffic court. Most people either pay the fine or ignore it till the next time they register their auto........regardless the infrastructure is in place already serving the city.

I beleive they are there as a deterent, not as a main source of revenue, do not know about any other areas but there is usually a road sign telling you the light is photo enforced. So just pay attention, and like I said if you are across the stop line before the light turns red you should be o.k.

I agree Ranger, I think they wake people up an thats a good thing!

I think if a cop does not witness you run the light then no fine can come to you. They have a few of these things in Clarksville and most people seem to take off the front plate off their vehicle and put the back plate in the rear windshield so the camera wont get them. I dont know how well that works, but it's a fighting chance.
