Interesting read. I work in(near) the safety department of a trucking company. We see these things come across from time to time. While they generate no CSA points it typically indicates unsafe driving behaviors. Get enough of those on your driver profile and a company is likely to cut you lose. Just my perspective.

In Florida the red light camera's are non moving violations / civil fines. As mentioned the only way to get a real ticket is if an Officer was present at the time of infraction. The catch though is the civil fine will be mailed to the vehicle owner on a document that looks exactly like a uniform traffic citation. This is where people think they must pay the fine. In fact what you can do is when you get the civil fine is contest it with the reviewing Officer. Each agency will have 1 Officer who must review all civil fines before they are sent, this is to ensure that the fine is for an actual violation. Explain your situation and reason for continueing through the intersection, if the Officer does not void the civil fine you can take the matter before an magitrate who will hear your side of the matter, review the video and make a decision. EVEN THEN if you lose, the matter is only civil and they can not do squat to your license. They can however send the fine to collections and hurt yout credit. But then that is IF you are the vehicle owner.123456 Thanks this. -
I don't have a problem slowing down a little through intersections. Although It really grates on my nerves having someone blow the horn at me if I'm not doing 10 mph OVER the speed limit. On this particular section of road it's 55 and I do 55. I'm about the only one. Everyone else blows by me at 10 and 20 mph over the limit.
Those count down timers at lights would be nice. It gives you an idea of when the light is about to change. I doubt the town where I live will put them in anytime soon. Because it really isn't about the safety, it's about the town raking in money.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
I agree.
I slow for intersections and usually if in town travel below the posted limit.
They can honk I cant hear them over the radio anyway.
Race around me and you screw the others still behind me.
I will slow down even more to give me some room to manuever when you take that next right you couldnt wait an extra 15 seconds to get to.
The speed limit is just that, a limit for perfect conditions ie daylight and dry.
Intersections can be very slick when wet due to a buildup of oil and other fluids that leak from vehicles sitting at the light.
Slow down, look for cross traffic that may trip the light, and drive 2 or 3 lights ahead of your vehicle.
I hate shifting (and putting my feet down if riding the Harley) so would much rather just bop along slowly and try to make all the lights green.DrtyDiesel Thanks this. -
It is amazing the persective you get from sitting up higher and being a little slower, just how bad most 4-wheelers drive. Young, old, male, female, it does not matter anymore. Nobody knows how to drive and not text or talk on the phone, kinda hard to pay attention and text at the same time.Onetruckpony,I agree I would rather bop along shift less and try to make all greens.

I dont have TN plates on my truck. My state gives 2 plates so I took off the front one

sent a copy of my log and told them I wasnt driving and got away with it
-
I brought my log book down to the municipal building with me. They wouldn't even look at it. The woman said the cars owner gets the ticket.

anyone actually gotten one in a truck? i definitely got flashed early this morning. i simply couldnt stop in time, and it was 3am i was the only one out there it was by far safer to just go then slam on the brakes. IL, where i believe they go to the registered owner. which in most of our cases would be the trucking company. im curious how those turn out, in the event it has ever happened. otherwise i guess ill post my results should anything ever come of it.

Tennessee hit hard. All those Cams were being monitored by a company in Australia.. The states constitution states officers must witness the offense, I got out of mine because of it.. Ive run a few but I dunno, I think the camera only gets a shot of the side of the trailer ..
Some of those cameras are set too.. I know it. If you look at the time it takes for a non camera light to go green, yellow, red compared to a camera stoplight its twice as fast.. Thieves..
