    Does anyone know how much a ticket in NY state will cost for my ELD not working properly? The officer couldn't download off my phone i didn't have instructions in operating my ELD , no permit fir NY state, and two additional tickets. Basically, my hardware (ELD) wasn't showing me driving but I was on duty status. The police officer wasn't having it .

    I'm assuming this was a violation on a DOT inspection report. I am assuming he was performing a DOT inspection at the time.

    What was the name of the violation written on the inspection sheet & what was the RS code number for the violation?

    If it's convenient for you, and if it's a local cop and a big fine go to court and challenge his certification/training/authority to do DOT inspections and write tickets that violate the FMCSR.

    Sounds like you need to talk to a lawyer. This could be a big issue if you had all that going on. Why was your ELD having issues and what ELD was you using? Mine is real easy to send the information to in DOT mode.

    You must have your ELD instructions with you, put them in your truck book. It’s something they have asked me to show in the last two level one inspections I’ve had.
    Sounds like your phone disconnected from the ELD gateway..you should have been able to reconnect and claim the driving time.
    I use a dedicated tablet that stays in the truck but it does occasionally screw up and I have to claim the driving time..

    No permit for NY? NY Hut..I’ve heard rumors that he fine is around $2k.

    Probably got flagged for an inspection due to not having a HUT sticker…opened up a can of worms so to speak.

    Now probably going to get flagged for an audit!

    Get that NY permit. It's not hard or expensive and there are youtube walk thrus. If you're an OO get your house in order to avoid this kind of headache.
